GENERAL AND FISHERY RULES.
GENERAL RULES
.1a Your permit remains the property of Plaum’s Pit Angling Club and is for the personal use of the permit holder only. It is not to be tampered with in anyway. If it is lost or damaged, a duplicate can be issued on receipt of two passport size photographs, a SAE and an administration fee of £5, or such a sum as might be from time to time determined.
b. Your day ticket remains the property of Plaum’s Pit Angling Club and is for the personal use of the day ticket holder only - it is not to be tampered with in any way.
2a. The permit entitles you and you alone to fish Plaum’s Pit provided you comply with all the Rules. It remains in force until the 31st March unless terminated earlier in accordance with the Rules.
b. he day ticket entitles you and you alone to fish Plaum’s Pit AC waters provided you comply with all the Rules. It remains in force for the venue, the date and times stated on the day ticket.
3. The permit or day ticket is not transferable nor refundable.
4. In the event of a permit or day ticket holder having his or her entitlement to fish the lake suspended or terminated, he or she shall forthwith cease to fish and return their permit or day ticket.
5. In the event of a permit holder ceasing to be a member of Plaum’s Pit AC, he or she shall forthwith cease to have any entitlement to fish the Club’s waters and shall return their permit.
6.a. If any of the events mentioned in Rules 4 and 5 occur, leading to a permit or day ticket holder’s entitlement to fish ceasing, Plaum’s Pit AC shall not be liable to refund to that person the whole or any part of the monies which he or she has paid.
b. Day tickets for Plaum’s/Wichelstowe waters shall be available from the 1st April for the whole season, with the exception of match Sundays.
c. Day tickets for Plaum’s Pit AC waters shall be valid from 1 hour before sunrise until dark.
d. A maximum of ten day tickets for Plaum’s Pit shall be issued from Monday to Saturday. A maximum of five day tickets for Plaum’s Pit shall be available on Sundays from 1st October. A maximum of five day tickets for Wichelstow shall be available.
e. Day tickets must be purchased in advance from Angling Direct Swindon.
f. Junior anglers under the age of 12 purchasing day tickets must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
.7a. Permit holders must at all times carry their membership card and produce it to bailiff or permit holder on request. Without such a document, they must cease fishing and vacate their swim.
b. Day ticket holders must at all times carry their ticket and produce it to a bailiff or permit holder on request. Without such a document, they must cease fishing and vacate their swim.
.8 The coarse fishing season on Plaum’s Pit AC waters is from 1st April to 31st March inclusive.
.9a. No swims may be altered or bankside vegetation damaged without the permission of either a bailiff or committee member and only in accordance with Swindon Borough Council’s specification or agreement.
b. No raking of swims, cuffing or dragging of weed or lilies is allowed. If you have a problem with a particular swim or area, please advise a committee member.
.10 Swimming in the Clubs water is strictly forbidden.
.11 Junior members, under the age of 12 years, must be accompanied by an adult at all times whilst fishing. Juniors aged 7 years and under do not require membership but must be accompanied by an adult member at all times whilst fishing. A maximum of two juniors only per adult member.
.12 Permit holders and day ticket users must hold a current Environment Agency license and comply with the Salmon and Freshwater Fisheries Acts and the by laws in force for the area.
.13 Neither Plaum’s Pit Angling Club, nor any member of the club, or the Officers, or the committee members of the club shall be liable for any damage, loss or injury sustained by a member or guest of a member or any other member of the public.
.14 You must not introduce into the Club’s waters, from any other water, any freshwater fish or freshwater fish spawn, including any fish intended to be used as dead bait.
.15 No individual angler who is not a bonafide member of Plaum’s Pit AC or in possession of a valid day ticket shall be permitted to fish the waters managed by Plaum’s Pit Angling Club.
.16a. On matchdays, all anglers on the lake must cease fishing two hours prior to the start time of the match and no angler must fish whilst the match is in progress unless competing in the match or without express permission of the Match Secretary or Official in charge of the said match.
b. On evening match dates, no fishing is allowed after 5pm in any of the reserved pegs.
.17 No motorised vehicles are allowed on or around the Club’s waters unless the user is disabled and in possession of a valid green card.
.18 No junior members to fish during school hours on schooldays.
.19 Junior members are not allowed to fish before 8am and must cease fishing one hour before dusk. Juniors may fish between these times when accompanied by an adult member or parent or they have parental consent.
.20 Junior members must have a signed parental consent form before being allowed to have junior membership for Plaum’s Pit Angling Club.
.21 Permit or Day Ticket Holders, whilst angling at the clubs waters, may bring a dog. The dog must be well behaved and tethered at all times, so to not affect other anglers or members
of the public.
.22 The erection and use of Bivvies and Day Fishing shelters is restricted to the following Peg numbers. (Pegs 1-13)
.23 PLEASE TAKE YOUR LITTER HOME
FISHERY RULES
. 1 All fish must be returned to the water. No fish shall be removed from the Club’s waters.
. 2 Swims reserved for disabled anglers must be vacated by an able bodied angler on request.
. 3 The person fishing a swim must ensure that it is litter-free before commencing fishing
and remove all litter from the property when they leave. Anyone found with litter in their swim, irrespective of whether the litter is theirs or not, will have their permit withdrawn and suspended for a period of not less than three months.
This rule will be strictly enforced - you have been warned!
. 4 No angler may fish with more than two rods at a time.
. 5 No radios or other music, no boats are allowed to be used by anglers when fishing, no guns or crossbows of any kind and no fires are allowed on or around the Club’s waters at anytime.
. 6 Permit holders shall be allowed to fish from one hour before sunrise to one hour after dusk
. 7 As from 1st April 2022 there will be no night tickets available.
. 8 No baited rods are to be left unattended at anytime. ‘Unattended’ is classed as more than three metres away from your rod, in any direction.
. 9 No carp are to be retained in keepnets.
b Unhooking mats MUST be carried at all times and used when handling fish.
. 10 The excessive use of boilies is strictly prohibited. The recommended maximum amount for each session being a quantity not exceeding 0.5kg
. 11 All fish to be returned to the water in a responsible and safe manner. Anyone found mistreating fish, creating unnecessary distress or harm to any species of fish, will automatically be banned from the Club and it’s waters for a minimum of at least 12 months.
. 12 All members must, observe the Environment Agency byelaws on keep nets.
. 13 No trout pellets in any form to be used on Club waters. Any member found using trout pellets will be expelled for life.
This rule will be strictly enforced - you have been warned!
. 14 No restriction to Pellet or Ground Bait.
. 15 No OPEN tins or cans are allowed on the Club’s waters.
. 16 In the interest of wildlife protection the use of all floating baits is prohibited on Club waters.
. 17 No live baiting is allowed on Plaum’s Pit AC waters. Dead baits are restricted to the use of
salt water species only.
. 18 Fish may only be retained in a keepnet with the exception of carp, which may be retained in a carp sack. Only one carp may be retained per carp sack. The keepnet must comply with Environment Agency bye laws. Fish may only be retained for a maximum of six hours. All anglers to be in possession of a Landing Net, Unhooking Mat and Disgorger.
. 19 The use of lower breaking strain “Hooklinks” are compulsory. When using “Braid” as the main line, a monofilament “Hooklink” of a lower breaking strain than the main line with a minimum length of 1 metre is compulsory. In addition, ledgers and feeders are only to be attached as a free running rig to ensure that following a line breakage above the weight a fish cannot become tethered by a fixed weighted terminal tackle set up.
. 20 BARBLESS hooks to be used at all times Max hook size of 6 unless piking then size 6
. 21 No fishing to be done between platforms. Members should sit on the platforms when fishing.
. 22 On purchasing a Club membership card, a member is deemed to know and obey all Club rules, ignorance of rules is no excuse.
. 23 No nuts (in any form) to be used on Club waters.
. 24 A member must not cause annoyance to, or interfere with any other member when fishing Club waters.
